We have Fun
There are two roads to creativity: one through necessity, the other through joy. The world is best when these paths converge.
I champion play as a modality for my work: celebrating the hard questions, big problems and new ideas as possibilities, not peril.
Working with me is fun. I make play a serious business and deliver meaningful new ideas that delight in the human experience.
Here’s how I do it:
–
Innovation & Sensory Strategy
Most organizations know what they want to make. Fewer know what they want people to feel. Emilie works with innovation teams, brands, cities, developers and institutions to close that gap — bringing 20+ years of experience strategy and multisensory, human perception research into the rooms where decisions get made. The result is a show, don’t tell approach: presenting stakeholders with rigorous thinking, brought to life through embodied, hands-on experiences that foster a deeper level of understanding, empathy and curiosity.

Creative Direction
The future of human experience is not just on a screen. It is in the body. From large-scale installations to brand experiences, Emilie directs work that earns its place in people’s memory. Every project starts with a strategic question — what should this make someone feel, understand, or do differently — and builds outward from there. The making and the thinking are never separate. Working closely with clients and integrated teams, she leads the vision and execution of immersive experiences, campaigns, and environments for brands, cities and institutions.

Commissions
A commission is an invitation to make something new — a one-of-a-kind work conceived and built in direct response to a client’s brief, whether that’s an immersive installation for a museum, a live sensory event, or an original experience designed for a specific moment or audience. Where creative direction shapes and leads an existing vision, a commission begins from scratch: Emilie is the author, and the work is made entirely in service of the question you bring her.
–
Instruments
These are Emilie’s original works — conceived, designed, and owned. Each instrument explores a specific question about human perception and sensory experience, fosters play, and exists as a standalone object, installation, or system. They are available for licensing, exhibition, and partnership with brands and institutions who want to bring them into new contexts.
–
Experiments
Every experiment tests a specific question about human perception and sensory behavior — self-initiated or commissioned by a client, and always in the real world. They are the laboratory behind the practice, and the source of the frameworks we bring to every project. The findings feed directly into the consulting methodology, the creative direction work, and over a decade of teaching at the School of Visual Arts.

Speaking
Emilie is an internationally recognized speaker on the future of human experience, multisensory design, and the role of the senses in shaping how people connect, decide, and remember. She has spoken at TEDx, DLD, PSFK, and Creative Mornings, and appeared on NBC, the TODAY Show, and in the Wall Street Journal. Her talks are grounded in 20 years of practice, original research, and a methodology taught at SVA — making them as useful to an innovation team as they are inspiring to a creative audience. She is available for conferences, corporate events, and institutional programming.
